Boricha

( barley coffeee, called mujicha in Japan )

SOUTH KOREA JAPAN Barley coffee (roasted barley herbal tea) is a drink made with crushed and torrefied barley grains. So it contains no cafeine. Golden liquid with a taste going from sweet hazelnut or roasted bread to pronounced coffee taste according to the time it infused.
In summer Boricha is tasted all day long fresh without any add. In winter you can drink it hot with honey or lemon. Cereal teas are Yulmucha (adlay), Boricha (barley), Okusucha (corn tea), Genmaicha (brown rice tea of Japan).
Calpis

JAPAN Popular drink in Japan. Calpis is essentialy composed of water, milk powder and lactic ferments. Its slightly sour and lactic taste reminds of the taste of a sweet yogurt diluted in water.
This (very expensive) drink is often sold concentrate forms to dilute before consumption in japanese drugstores. Some pre-diluated versions are sold under the generic term of Calpis water and Calpis soda for the soda version. Calpis is also used as a syrup to aromatize Kakigoris. (wikipedia)

JAPAN Very popular in Japan during summer, mujicha is available in the form of large tea-bags to plunge in cold water. In Europe mujicha is called barley coffee and is consumed cold in summer and hot in winter.
